Metroid Fusion heads to the Nintendo Switch Online next week

By Keith MitchellMarch 3, 2023
GBA-Metroid Fusion

I can’t believe this is finally happening, but with the upcoming Nintendo Switch Online update, Nintendo is bringing some much-needed Gameboy and Gameboy Advanced to the Switch; with one of them being Metroid Fusion. The title will be available on March 8, 2023.

Ever since the Switch Online service became a thing, fans of many classic Nintendo games have been pleading and begging for Nintendo to reach into its very deep pocket of Gameboy games and release them onto the service. And for a very long time, Nintendo pretty much ignored those requests and wasted much of our time.

But now, one of the better GBA games, and Metroid games, Metroid Fusion is finally hitting the Switch. Released back in 2002, Metroid Fusion really switched things up (see what I did there?) Metroid Fusion served as a true successor to Super Metroid, and where the Metroid story stopped, that is until Metroid Dread picked up where the story ended The combat was better, though I always felt the exploration was a step backward, but damn if that story didn’t mean a lot to me when I was younger. I can’t wait to dive into it again.

With Metroid Fusion heading to Switch Online, this means all of the main Metroid games will be playable from start to finish on the Switch. This means, gamers who either didn’t experience the games before or fans who want to experience the amazing games again, can do so. Then, they can jump into Metroid Dread, and Metroid Prime Remastered, if they haven’t already.
