Are Studio Ghibli and Lucasfilm Working on Star Wars: Visions Volume 2

Today, the world-renowned animation studio, Studio Ghibli, shocked the world of geekiness with just one 15-second video. But this wasn’t just any video. Contained in this short morsel of goodness was the appearance of the Lucasfilm logo, followed by the Studio Ghibli logo. That’s it, but it was more than enough to send a message; these two powerhouses were joining forces for some unnamed project.

But is it really unnamed? In 2021, Disney revealed it was working with several animation studios, including Trigger Studio, and Production I.G on a Star Wars-related project called, Star Wars: Visions. The result was 9 different episodes that took place within the Star Wars universe, and for the first time ever, was all anime. Which was exactly what Star Wars, who had a passion for anime, has been asking for.

If you haven’t seen it, and you are subscribed to Disney Plus, you should check it out.

Interestingly enough, Disney revealed on May 29th, 2022, that they had plans for a second season, a Star Wars: Visions Volume 2. This second season would be released in the Spring of 2023, and that’s all they mentioned.

However, with the reveal of Lucasfilm and Studio Ghibli, working together, there’s zero doubt that the two will be working on the next season of Star Wars Visions. That’s a huge name, perhaps the most respected animation studio out there, and for them to be working on Star Wars: Visions next season, I’m looking forward to it even more than ever.

Of course, this is all speculative, and this hasn’t been confirmed. However, it’s too much to be a coincidence. What else could it be? Maybe Studio Ghibli could be working on perhaps a full-fledged animated film? Now, that would be interesting as well.
