New Need for Speed Announcement Scheduled for Tomorrow

By Keith MitchellOctober 5, 2022

EA has announced that a new Need for Speed title will be revealed on October 6th, 2022. Of course, thanks to leaks, we already know the name of this title; Need for Speed Unbound.

The title’s reveal will take place on YouTube at 8 AM PT / 11 AM PT. While EA hasn’t officially confirmed that the title’s name will be Need for Speed Unbound, leaks of official art have already made the rounds on the internet. Unfortunately, it stinks that the leaker mentality has yet again spoiled another announcement.

Still, it’s good to see that we’re getting a new Need for Speed title, as it’s been years since the last one. Not counting Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered, the last original title was Need for Speed: Heat, developed by Ghost Games. I played it, I thought it was ok, but it wasn’t one of my favorite NFS titles.

The news of a new NFS title has been in the works for quite some time. Yet I am leery about what Criterion would end up producing. I suppose I’ll reserve judgment until I can play the game. Until then, catch the reveal of Need for Speed Unbound tomorrow.

Oh, here are those leaked Need for Speed Unbound images I talked about. These images show that the game has a cell shading art style look to it. The cars are not so much, but the human components definitely do. I’m really looking forward to this reveal so we can see more of the game.
