Crunchyroll to Present Anime Music Experience at Second Sky

By Josh PiedraOctober 14, 2022

Crunchyroll, the global brand delivering world-class experiences for anime fans, is announcing today a special anime music experience heading to Porter Robinson’s Second Sky Festival.

Featuring the DJs from Tokyo’s iconic Akihabara anime night club, MOGRA, who are returning to the US for the first time since 2019, the Crunchyroll Anime Shelter experience will transport festival goers through an immersion of light and sound that will isekai attendees into the world of anime featuring DJs:

  • D-YAMA opened MOGRA in 2009. Since then he has brought MOGRA’s anime club scene to an international audience through tours in the United States and Germany as well as on Twitch.
  • Taku Inoue is a pop/dance music producer who served as a member of BANDAI NAMCO’s sound staff for nearly a decade. He has contributed to THE IDOLM@STER and TEKKEN series and is a resident DJ at MOGRA.
  • DJ WILDPARTY is a Japanese DJ and resident DJ at MOGRA who has partnered with various vocaloid talent and his tracks have been featured in THE IDOLM@STER MILLION LIVE!

Crunchyroll’s Anime Shelter space will also include photo opportunities, interactive activities and a Crunchyroll-branded bar offering a curated selection of anime-inspired drinks.

“We know that music is a big part of our fans’ lives and we are excited to share a unique Crunchyroll music experience at Second Sky in celebration with fans and attendees,” said Gita Rebbapragada, Chief Marketing Officer, Crunchyroll.

Crunchyroll will also support Second Sky’s Cosplay Cup taking place onsite, providing prizes to the top three winners in the special competition. The competition can be enjoyed within the Crunchyroll Anime Shelter space and interested attendees should keep an eye out for more information.

“MOGRA is one of my favorite places in the world — the all-night anisongs and incredible live VJing is an experience that has become rightfully famous worldwide and it’s somewhere I go every time I’m in Japan. Crunchyroll (who helped in the creation of Shelter) are bringing MOGRA to the US with Second Sky — if you’re coming to the festival don’t miss it!” said Porter Robinson

Crunchyroll’s Anime Shelter space at Second Sky is a nod to SHELTER, an animated short film written and executive produced by Porter Robinson in association with Crunchyroll in 2016.

Second Sky will take place Saturday, October 29 at Oakland Arena Grounds in Oakland, California featuring artists personally curated by Porter Robinson. Fans can purchase tickets here at secondskyfest.com
