‘SpiderHeck’ Swings onto Consoles and PC on September 22nd

Spiderheck spider game

As fall descends, we get ready for a time of ghosts, witches, and spiders. But what about spiders with guns and laser swords? This year, they’ll be here (not physically, I hope). But co-op brawler SpiderHeck will deliver four-player arachnid action on September 22nd. Players can experience the platformer in both single-player and multiplayer modes. We previously covered SpiderHeck at PAX East, and since then developer Neverjam has added online multiplayer as well.

Published by tinyBuild, the chaotic game sees players control their own neon spider, who can swing from webs-like most spiders-and wield swords, mines, and other weapons-not like most spiders.  The spiders of SpiderHeck can also utilize powerups to allow for higher jumps and more survivability near explosives, among others. To make things trickier, these spiders have to traverse platformers above a pit of lava. And if you fall in, there goes your spider.

Head Developer Uvis Zviedris spoke in a press release about the couch co-op design goal of the game:

“Growing up on video games myself, it was vital that our first title offered a gameplay experience that could be enjoyed amongst friends and family.  We hope SpiderHeck becomes a party favorite that never goes out of style, bringing as much joy to players’ homes as it brought to mine.”

SpiderHeck will cast a wide web in its availability. Players can pick up the game for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Steam, GOG, and Epic Store will offer the title for those on PC. However, those who use Steam can play the game for free from its release date on September 22nd until September 26th.  Otherwise, SpiderHeck will retail for just $14.99.
