MultiVersus: How to Play as Gizmo – Moves, Strategies, and Perks

Gizmo is a cute little rascal in MultiVersus, but don’t underestimate him. He can be tough to deal with on the battlefield. Here’s every move at his disposal and which perks to give this little monster. Welcome to The Outerhaven’s Multiversus: How To Play Gizmo Guide.

MultiVersus Gizmo Moveset and Best Strategies

Standard moves

multiversus-gizmo-guide-01

Gizmo can surprisingly dish out a lot of damage, and that starts with his bow and arrow. Pressing the square button (X on Xbox), you’ll have a small arching arrow that only hits for two damage. However, if it’s fully held back, the arrow will illuminate in fire and will cause an overall 10% damage after the flames subside. With a move that can be repeated over and over, this is a key element of Gizmo’s damage strategy you’ll have to consider. Keep in mind as well that you can move and jump while drawing the arrow back. Also, the flame will remain on the arrow afterward if you decide to let go.

Going up and then square (X) will have Gizmo throw out levitating popcorn into the air. If ignited with a lit arrow, they will explode to cause 11% of damage to the opponent. It also causes great knockback if implemented correctly. Doing this in the air will have Gizmo scratching upwards twice; this is one of the character’s best knockback attacks.

Sideways and pressing square (X) has Gizmo performing the Mogwai 3-Step combo. He punches, headbutts, and then dropkicks the opponent backward. It does 11% of the damage but has very little knockback. We guess it makes sense as he’s only a small adorable creature. Doing sideways and square in the air will have Gizmo punching forward; this will dish out 6% of damage, but don’t rely on it to knock out an opponent.

Down and square (X) lets Gizmo pull out a keyboard piano and release music waves towards his opponent. It will cause one stat of silence and will deal around 5-8% of damage, depending on how long you hold down the button. Performing down and square (X) in the air will have the little creature kicking downwards multiple times. It can be effective at spiking an individual downwards into the abyss off stage. It can also combo with up and square (X), which has Gizmo throwing up the popcorn for a total of around 11% of damage; not bad!

Special moves

The Mogwai Gizmo has a slew of gadgets he can utilize in battle. However, first, he uses his own singing voice to cause damage to his foes. Holding triangle (Y button on Xbox) by itself will have Gizmo releasing musical notes into the air. You can spread five at once, and they can hang in the air as a trap for opponents. When they hit someone, they cause 2% of damage, but more importantly, they can cause one silence stat. It’s hard to fool your foe twice, so it’s unlikely you’ll silence them as you’ll need eight points with this debuff. Holding triangle in the air will instead release these musical notes horizontally instead of vertically.

Going sideways and pressing triangle (Y) while on the ground will unleash Gizmo’s car. Ramming opponents with it will cause up to 10% of damage and quite a bit of knockback when they’re over 100%. You can jump out of it at any time to follow the attack up and you can ride it once again by pressing L2 (LT). You can also tilt the car upwards by holding triangle (Y), making the trajectory of the knockback more vertical.

Meanwhile, as you go sideways and press triangle (Y), Gizmo will use an umbrella. You can block projectiles with it while charging forward. It can be used as a way to glide across the stage, too,as well after the initial attack animation.

Up and triangle (Y) has Gizmo leaping upward, which can be used as an effective knockback tactic. However, if an ally is near the little guy, he’ll jump onto their shoulder and cleanse them from any negative stat effect. You can attack with his Gizmo’s arrows while you’re hanging out on your friend’s shoulder but keep in mind that you’ll actually receive a percentage on incoming damage from foes if they’re hit.

Another way to block projectiles is to have Gizmo jump into a toy chest with down and triangle (Y). You can also use this effect while on a friend’s shoulder as he uses an umbrella instead to block projectiles.

Lastly, the Falling Furball attack performed with down and triangle (Y) is an extremely good spiking attack. He does a slam with his butt that will have the opponent falling down from a large distance. It will cause 8% of damage and you can perform a second butt slam in a matter of seconds.

Effective Perks for Gizmo

  • Power Cuddle, which will make Gizmo’s charge attacks release “much faster,” will make his arrows much more effective.
  • Make It Rain, Dog increases Gizmo’s projectile speed by 20%, letting his toys and musical notes fly out faster.
  • Percussive Punch Power will improve the damage of Gizmo’s horizontal attacks by 5%. His car will deal more damage, and it’s one of the easiest attacks to land on enemies.
  • Tasmanian Trigonometry increases your team’s knockback influence by 15%, making up for Gizmo’s lacking knockback attacks.
