Plunge into Dark Delights with ‘Wednesday’ Teaser

By Sara Roncero-MenendezAugust 17, 2022

They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky. But this all-together-ooky family is coming back to the screen in a new iteration from the mind of goth icon and film auteur Tim Burton. But instead of focusing on the whole family, this is a tale that will follow the family’s daughter, Wednesday, as she transfers to a new, horrifying school.

Here’s the official teaser synopsis:

WEDNESDAY — starring Jenna Ortega in the title role, alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzman, Gwendoline Christie, Christina Ricci and more — is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Snap snap.

It’s good to see Ricci, who played Wednesday in the beloved 1990s movies, will be making an appearance, and while no one can replace Raul Julia, Luis Guzman is a great pick. And let’s not forget Catherine Zeta-Jones, who looks like she was born to play black-widow-in-human-form Morticia.

If the teaser is anything to go by (and it does have a scene of Wednesday dropping piranhas into a swimming pool and having them bloodily chew up a boy’s lower half), it looks like we’re going to be in good hands.

Wednesday will premiere on Netflix sometime in Fall 2022.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
