MultiVersus Harley Quinn Guide – Moveset, Best Strategies, And Effective Perks

By Chris PenwellJuly 26, 2022
Mulitversus Harley Quinn Guide-01

The beloved villain Harley Quinn swings her bat around like no one’s business in MultiVersus, but she also has a cavalcade of weapons to choose from in her moveset. Here’s a much-needed breakdown of how the character works and your best strategies to succeed in MultiVersus as Harley Quinn.

Moveset and Best Strategies

Standard attacks

Mulitversus Harley Quinn Guide-02

Harley Quinn has a variety of standard attacks that can be devastating to your opponents. Her mallet is one of her strongest attacks and a great way to eliminate a foe into the abyss. You can tap the square button (or X on Xbox) to give a light tap of the mallet or hold it down to create an outstanding slam that can knock back opponents greatly. This would be a great move if your foe is stunned by Bugs Bunny’s kiss and other attacks in MultiVersus. You can also use the hammer in the air, and it can be used as a great way to spike people down while they’re off the platform.

Holding up and then pressing square (X) has Harley reveal her bat and then strike upwards with a flourish. It can be a fantastic way to get someone in the air and can be used to knock out opponents. For the best results, we recommend following up with Harley’s flare gun, which is inputted with up and square (X) while in the air. For maximum effect, pair these two attacks with Harley’s Stuffie Bat, which we’ll discuss later.

Down and square (X) has Harley Quinn perform a slide kick, similar to Batman in MultiVersus. It can be tapped or held. Holding it will stun your opponent for about a second, allowing you to follow up the kick with a swing of her mallet or bat. It only causes 2% of damage, so this attack is basically a utility for a combo. However, performing this movement in the air lets Harley shoot her gun in the air, making it perfect for spiking someone when they least expect it.

Moving right and pressing square performs a decent striking combo that leads the opponent into the air if fully performed. It does a decent 11-13% damage on your foe, and then you can lead the combo up with Harley’s flair gun. In the air, this input lets Harley kick her opponent off-screen; it’s pretty weak, though, so keep that in mind.

Special attacks

Mulitversus Harley Quinn Guide-03

The first special attack is quite the doozy. After pressing triangle (or Y), Harley will create a Bat Stuffie out of nowhere, and it can cause some explosive damage. When it makes contact, there’s a timer attached to the bomb. You can see it pass by looking at the yellow wheel around the toy. It will stick onto your opponents, yourself, or even your ally. Once it explodes, it will start an ignition counter. Hit a combo on your victim, and then the ignition on your foe will begin, creating damage over a period of time. You can activate the explosion at any time with another tap of the triangle (Y) button and use the Bat Stuffie to heighten an opponent’s upwards knockback, leading to a combo that can eliminate Shaggy or other characters in the game.

By holding up and pressing triangle (Y), Harley will do a swing of the bat in the air, making a powerful upswing into the air. Use this as an opponent is knocked back to get a possible elimination.

Sideways and triangle (Y) has Harley firing a boxing glove towards her foes in the opposite direction. It can be unpredictable towards your rivals, but at the same time, this move can be used to help you recover from the side of the battlefield. It moves Harley about one-quarter of the stage’s length, giving her more mobility.

Finally, downwards and triangle (Y) has Harley unleash a trap for her foes called a Jerk-in-the-box. When someone walks by it, it will knock them upwards and cause 3% of damage, but like her other moves, it blasts your foe into the air and can start the ignition counter. The Jerk-in-the-box can also be mid-air with the help of its balloons.

Harley Quinn’s Most Effective Perks

Mulitversus Harley Quinn Guide-04

As Harley Quinn levels up, she’ll gain new perks to equip. However, you can also gain others’ perks by clicking on “Train Perks” on her character screen in the main menu. Here’s what she should have under her perks, so you can gain an advantage in battle.

  • Smooth Moves, which shifts Harley’s ground and air side specials to dodges. She’ll gain brief invincibility during the start of her attacks, letting you cut into frustrating combos from your opponents. You can also potentially save your teammate as well.
  • Up, Up, and A-Slay, which deals 5% extra damage to upward attacks. Much of Harley’s moveset like her traps and gun attacks force your foe upwards, making this a perfect fit.
  • Triple Jump, which offers Harley an extra jump in the air, allowing you to confirm more combos while airborne and launching opponents into the abyss above.
  • Kryptonian Skin, which provides 4% reduced damage from incoming attacks. Assassins, by default, take in 14% additional damage as opposed to other classes, so this would be handy.
