Lollipop Chainsaw Gets a Remake Next Year

By William "Shadowz" KokJuly 5, 2022

Juliet Starling will be making her return next year as it is confirmed that Lollipop Chainsaw is getting a remake.

This was confirmed by the producer of the game, Yoshimi Yasuda. He previously hinted at the remake in prior tweets. He posted a statement on Twitter in regard.

In basic summary, the game will be remade with overhauled visuals. That it would be in a “realistic art style” said Yasuda. Some say this is some concern cause the style of the game is anything but realistic. For anyone who has played the original, it was in a semi-cel-shaded with a comic book art style. Basically a zombie slayer with blood, rainbows, candy, and sparkles. Only something that the mind of SUDA 51  can create alongside James Gunn. It was unapologetically over-the-top with blood, sex appeal, and pure madness. Some worry that there would be changes and censorship of the original content. As there were many costumes with some outfits from anime licenses that were full of fan service. From Deadman Wonderland, High School of the Dead, and Is this a Zombie?!, it was a treat for fans of those series. Some outfits that would even give Dead or Alive a run for their money as one with literal sea shells. Whether or not they will return due to licensing issues or outright rejection of fan service remains to be seen.

Another part of the remake that was noted is that there will be changes from the original music due to licensing. This game was released back in 2012, so it is safe to say the licenses of use have expired. Songs included great retro songs like “Hey Mickey“, “You Spin Me Right Round“, and soundtracks from Mindless Self-Indulgence’s Jimmy Urine. The list of songs that are to be changed will be revealed at a later date.

So if you have not played this unique, sexy, and insane game by the minds of SUDA 51 and James Gunn, you will now have a chance in 2023. Though what kinds of changes they will make remains to be seen. Here is hoping it is as close to the original game and to the creative vision of SUDA 51 and James Gunn.
