E3 Will Return in 2023 With Some Help From Reedpop

Yesterday, Reedpop, the organizer of gaming and geek culture events such as New York Comic Con, EGX,  and all of the PAX (Penny Arcade) events, announced that they are partnering with the ESA to bring back the E3 gaming event.

Despite E3 being on the decline for the past few years and everyone calling for the event to be dead. It would seem that Reedpop has swooped in and will be putting in considering resources to attempt to bring back the former king of gaming events. Reedpop and the ESA have been listening to the chatter about what happened with E3. What people want to see changed and are moving forward with some ambitious plans.

Lance Fensterman, President of ReedPop, is excited and had this to say about E3 2023 — “It is a tremendous honor and privilege for ReedPop to take on the responsibility of bringing E3 back in 2023” “With the support and endorsement of the ESA, we’re going to build a world-class event to serve the global gaming industry in new and broader ways than we already do at ReedPop through our portfolio of world-leading events and web sites.”

According to Reedpop, E3 2023 will welcome back publishers, developers, journalists, content creators, manufacturers, buyers, and licensors. The event will also highlight digital showcases and feature in-person consumer components. That said, the plans aren’t solidified, and we don’t know if the event will feature media only hours or days as of yet.

Though I’m hoping it does, as E3 does tend to get packed, and having both media and consumers on the same floor is chaotic. Trust me, I’ve been there, and it was a mess.

There’s lots more to come regarding the revamped E3, but one thing is for sure, this is going to be it. If Reedpop and the ESA can’t impress with E3 2023, it’s a done deal. Though, I’m sure things will pan out just fine. Outside of COVID-19, which is a variable that no one can control as we’ve seen, Reedpop has been solid with its gaming and geek culture events. Just about every PAX event has been fun and exciting, and the comic cons, well, outside of the crowds, are great.

Though, it was interesting to see that once the news of E3 returning, a number of events, including Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest, announced they’d be returning around the same time. Is E3 2023 already to start spooking people? I can’t see why, yet it would appear that it is.

As we announced back in June, @SummerGameFest will return in June 2023 as a free digital and in-person event to celebrate the future of video games — bringing our entire industry together to showcase what's next. pic.twitter.com/cOUHJ9VLtA

Of course, The Outerhaven, will attempt to be in attendance at E3 2023. We’ll let you know more when that time approaches. How do you feel about Reedpop working with The ESA on E3 2023? Will it work? Is it a fool’s errand? Sound off in the comments!
