Square Enix’s Action-RPG Forspoken Now Delayed By Five Months

Square Enix has announced that its upcoming Action RPG, Forspoken, has been delayed by five months and now be released on October 22, 2022.

Forspoken was initially scheduled to be released on May 24, 2022, and had been on Square Enix’s calendar for months. However, the company only decided that delaying the game would be best as they wanted to add some more “polish” to the game.

“Our vision for this exciting new IP is to deliver a game world and hero that gamers across the globe will want to experience for years to come, so getting it right is extremely important to us,” the statement read. “To that end, during the next few months we will focus all of our efforts on polishing the game and can’t wait for you to experience Frey’s journey this fall.”

It might also have something to do with having several blockbuster titles, such as Horizon Forbidden West and Elden Ring, being released around the same time. Both titles have taken the gaming world by storm and are all that anyone is talking about. At least for the moment anyway. Delaying Forspoken for a few months was the right idea.

I hope that the time that Square Enix takes does Forspoken justice. While I like the game’s concept, the last showing didn’t spark any interest, and I started to doubt the game. Originally known as Project Athia, Forspoken will tell the story of the protagonist Freya Holland. A young woman able to wield magical powers, and the voice behind her is actor Ella Balinska, perhaps best known for portraying Jane Kano in 2019’s Charlie’s Angels.

Forspoken will is now releasing on October 22, 2022, for the PlayStation 5 and Windows PC.
