First Nintendo Direct of 2022 Announced, Set For February 9

As is typical of the beginning of the new year, a bunch of rumors were flying around stating that the first Nintendo Direct of 2022 was about to happen. And thankfully for those spreading the rumors…they were right. Nintendo has revealed on Twitter (see below) that they are indeed having a Direct soon, tomorrow in fact, and they have outlined some of the things that fans can expect from it.

This Nintendo Direct will take place on February 9, 2022, at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET, and will be hosted on both Nintendo’s Twitch and YouTube channels.

The key thing that people will notice about the tweet below is not just 40-minute runtime (which is standard for a typical Nintendo Direct), but that they note it will focus “mainly on Nintendo Switch games launching in the first half of 2022”. This heavily implies that many of the games we’ll be seeing in this Direct are ones we know of already. Such as the upcoming Triangle Strategy, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Advance Wars 1+2 Re-boot camp, and possibly something like Splatoon 3 or Bayonetta 3.

Tune in 2/9 at 2 p.m. PT for a #NintendoDirect livestream featuring roughly 40 minutes of information mainly focused on #NintendoSwitch games launching in the first half of 2022.

But, given that some of those games already have had a lot of time and trailers, that could mean that Nintendo has some big surprises to show us. Especially since the ones that do have confirmed release dates are coming out very soon or “in the spring”. All will be revealed tomorrow, and we’ll be sure to cover everything that is shown!
