Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation Code Fairy is the latest Gundam game available for the PS4 and PS5, based in the Universal Century (UC) Gundam timeline. As such, it goes back to the beginning of mobile suit combat and isn’t friendly to newcomers to the series. Thankfully, we have a few points to get you into fighting form and make the Federation (ESFS) regret their decision to attack

Learn the damage triangle.
Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation Code Fairy’s damage system is based around what I call the “Damage Triangle” and is vital to progression. There are several types of Mobile Suits in the game; Raid, General, and Support. Understanding these types is essential in dishing out damage instead of wasting your time. At the start of the game, you are given a Raid-type Zaku, and the missions will throw a variety of enemies at you. Most of which are General, which you are weak against. Learning which suits you can damage quickly versus wasting your ammo is a time saver.
Eventually, you’ll gain access to other Mobiel Suits, but the damage triangle doesn’t change.
Don’t forget to equip those items.
Throughout the game, you’ll be rewarded items that can be used to enhance your mobile suit. The problem is that the game doesn’t do a good job of letting you know what these are or that you can equipment, so you’ll have to do some experimenting. Before every sortie, you’ll have the option to customize your mobile suit, and it’s here that you can not only switch up your weapons but also equip these items.
These items will range from increasing your damage resistance, increasing your melee and ranged damage, adding extra hit points, and more. To equip these items, open up the customization screen on the melee you have selected, click on the Custom Parts field, and then you’ll be able to add these items.
Do not forget to equip these, as these can be the difference between success or failing a mission.
Don’t switch up your main weapon.
While the bazooka you start out with may seem slow, and it is, it is also powerful. It can inflict splash damage on multiple enemies while also inflicting significant damage on single targets (within the damage triangle I discussed above). You may be tempted to switch it out due to the slow speed, but don’t. You have a team to depend on, and you can command them to attack targets that are weak against your damage by pressing “O”.
Don’t spam that attack button.
The Zaku you start out with isn’t the most graceful machines and they don’t do anything quickly. Movement, turning, and attacking are painfully slow, as are reloading weapons. You’ll want to learn not to spam the attack button, or you’ll be at the mercy of the enemy.
Capturing beacons and preparing during battle.
While the game gives you a rundown on capturing beacons and repairing within them, I want to stress that this is super important to winning battles. Therefore, you’ll want to make sure you capture every beacon you find because you’ll never know just when you’ll need them to repair. Even if you don’t think you’ll need them, capture them. Just be sure to capture them while the enemy isn’t around; your squishy character won’t be able to take the damage.
Also, the beacons aren’t permanent repairs for you. Once you use them up, they won’t come back. So use them sparingly if you can.
