Is Housemarque teasing some sort of Returnal DLC

Returnal is easily one of my favorite games of 2021, thanks to the right amount of challenge and the beautiful-looking graphics. Yet, after being out for so long, I often wondered if the game was a one-and-done or would it receive some DLC in the future. Now, it would seem that Housemarque could be teasing some update for the game.

Yesterday, the Housemarque Twitter account posted the following tweet;

The word Atropos and an image of something that hasn’t been seen in the game before.

As for what this image is of, well, that’s anyone’s guess. It looks like something made out of stone and possibly underwater, but this is a very cryptic tweet. Regardless, it does seem like Housemarque is ready to introduce some content to the game in the form of DLC. However, keep in mind that Atropos is also the planet where Returnal takes place.

Adding to the speculation is another tweet by Housemarque’s senior narrative designer Eevi Korhonen that added the following;

https://twitter.com/silliet/status/1464249920018333737?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1464249920018333737%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=

Just what exactly is this? If this will be DLC, then Housemarque could be waiting for the upcoming 2021 The Game Awards Show to reveal just what this is. If it is anything, that is. I, for one, do hope that whatever this is, there is going to be some DLC on the way. It would give those who’ve already beaten the game another reason to dive back into perhaps the best game on the PS5.

Perhaps this will be new content, as Housemarque mentioned that they were focusing on new content for the game. Except they didn’t say if this only referred to updates such as the newly added suspended saves or if this meant actual playable content was coming.

This story is developing…
