EA is Bringing Back Fight Night But Its Not Coming Any Time Soon

By Camilo OlmedoNovember 10, 2021

It has been over a decade since Fight Night saw any kind of release but it looks like one is finally on the way. EA’s critically acclaimed boxing franchise is getting another round in the ring, but unfortunately, it’s still pretty far away from active development.

A source close to VGC stated that the development of UFC 5 is their current priority. EA Canada is aiming for a late 2022 release of that title. They were also reportedly working the next Fight Night installment and UFC concurrently but decided to halt the former in favor of the latter. This would give both games a fighting chance to be polished and successful when they’re completely so it is really the best course of action for the team making them.

There is currently no release window for the Fight Night revival, but it will be a while before development on it resumes after UFC 5 is where EA wants it to be. It may be a long way out but boxing fans at the very least have a glimmer of hope for the future of this long-dormant series.

The last time we saw a Fight Night game was way back in 2011 with Fight Night Champion on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The franchise missed out on an entire console generation so here’s hoping that it can come out swinging with a new installment that players connect with and utilizes some of the shiny new tech available.
