Marvel’s Midnight Suns Will Only Feature Cosmetic Microtransactions

Marvel's Midnight Suns

No pay to win or any of that nonsense.

It wasn’t that long ago that we got Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ gameplay footage, a tactical RPG that uses deck-building mechanics. However, since that footage, fans looking forward to the game have raised some concerns regarding microtransactions. The publisher, 2K Games, is mainly known for injecting its games with microtransactions, raking in cash due to them, sometimes causing a moral dilemma.

Marvel's Midnight Suns Card System

In response to the current ongoing debate, the official Midnight Sun’s Twitter page chimed in to assure fans that this isn’t the case. While there will be microtransactions in the game, this will be only for cosmetic purposes. There will be no “pay to win” or any of that other nonsense that has some people on edge.

Hey folks, regarding our battle card system, there are no loot boxes in Marvel's @MidnightSuns or related microtransactions to get more cards (i.e. Gamma Coils). We will have purely cosmetic character skins for purchase that do not affect game balance in any way https://t.co/lHhdwbMpSZ

Now that the record is straight, fans can go back to being excited about the game. During the recent reveal that the main character in the game is customizable. Once the game starts, players will be able to select the sex and look of the Hunter, a character who’s been in a deep sleep for quite some time. And the only being that has been able to take down the antagonist of the game, Lilith (per the game’s lore).

Who is Lilith?

For the record, there may be some asking just who Lilith is. If you aren’t a fan of Marvel comics or only recently started, it would make sense that you aren’t aware of who Lilith is.  There were also two characters given the same name, but for this game, we’re dealing with the one that’s not the daughter of Dracula. Let’s just put it this way; she’s an ultimate evil person. She’s been around as long as man has been walking on the earth, is a powerful magic user, and is known as the “Mother of All Demons.”More recently, she also joined up with Dracula after she was free during the events of Marvel’s Secret Invasion (2008-2009). It took the combined efforts of Hellstrom, Jennifer Kale, Morbius, Werewolf by Night, Doctor Strange, and Ghost Riders Danny Ketch and Johnny Blaze, to defeat and imprison here. Ironically enough, the team’s name was Midnight Sons, with an “O” and not a “U.”

Marvel’s Midnight Suns will be released in March 2022 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
