July was a big month for Nintendo in terms of games both 1st and 3rd party. And now, the NPD numbers for July 2021 have come out and revealed just how well The Big N did as a result of that. Because not only did they continue their reign of being the best-selling console per unit sales (meaning actual units sold) via the Nintendo Switch systems, but for the first time in months, they had the NO.1 selling game via Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD.
You can see the chart for the NPD data below, and as you’ll notice, Nintendo Switch had the No.1 slot via Skyward Sword HD and the No.3 spot via Monster Hunter Stories 2 Wings of Ruin. That detail is key for a single reason, we KNOW that Monster Hunter Stories 2 has sold over a million units, and Skyward Sword was above that in the charts, so thus it’s very likely that this game has crossed the million-sellers list as well. A big win for Nintendo all around.
