Blasphemous Wounds of Eventide coming later this year, sequel announced for 2023

Blasphemous Wounds of Eventide 1280x720

Get ready for more Blasphemous, as the title is not only getting a free update, but a newly announced sequel that’s been announced to be released in 2023.

Blasphemous Wounds of Eventide is a free update that will be heading to the PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on December 9th, 2021. This update will be chock full of new areas, items, bosses and will unlock the true ending of Blasphemous. If you enjoyed Blasphemous and wanted more content, your wish is coming true so don’t sleep on it.

That’s not all that was announced for Blasphemous, as a sequel has been revealed. We don’t know much about this Blasphemous sequel as it is currently early in development, however, we do know it will be released in 2023.

Here’s what The Game Kitchen, developers of Blasphemous, had to say about breaking the sequel news:

“We’re so excited to finally announce that we’ve started work on a Blasphemous sequel, the community have shown so much love for the first game and we can’t wait to share more when we can! New beginnings also mean new endings, and Wounds of Eventide is exactly that, it’s the final instalment for the original Blasphemous and we hope people love playing the new content as much as we loved creating it.”

“Finally, we wanted to share some behind the scenes from the production of the trailer you’ve just watched, it was important to us to stay true to the game’s roots, so we included a live orchestral track recorded by a selection of traditional and authentic procession musicians, with some of the orchestra having performed during the Holy Week in Seville, Spain. We want to extend our thanks to everyone involved in the process, especially the incredible musicians who bought our vision to life so vividly.”

This is amazing news for fans of Blasphemous, and while I haven’t played it yet (I know, I know), those that have played the game have been singing its praises every time I speak to them. Look forward to the free update, Blasphemous Wounds of Eventide, later this year.  Then get ready for the long wait for the sequel as it drops in 2023.

Stay tuned to The Outerhaven for more info on the upcoming Blasphemous Wounds of Eventide update and the sequel.
