OLDCODEX to Sing Theme Song of Free!-the Final Stroke Part 1! New Single Also Announced!

OLDCODEX, who previously performed the theme songs for the TV anime series Free! and the movie High Speed! Free! Starting Days, have been chosen again to perform the theme song of Free!-the Final Stroke Part 1. This as yet untitled song will also be released as a single on September 15.

Free!-the Final Stroke is a movie that serves as the final chapter of the TV anime series Free!, which has been running since 2013. The movie will be divided into two parts, which will be released on September 17, 2021, and April 22, 2022, respectively. Regarding their selection to sing the theme song, the members of OLDCODEX have released the comments below.

“Being involved in such a long-running series is a rare opportunity, so we’re going to think carefully about what we can do and give it our all,” says Ta_2.

YORKE added, “All of our creative collaborations with Free! have left a strong impression, and I’m very attached to them. We will continue working hard on production without forgetting our beginnings.”

OLDCODEX has released numerous hit songs for the Free! series, including “Rage On” (Free! OP), “Dried Up Youthful Fame” (Free! -Eternal Summer– OP), “Aching Horns” (High Speed! Free! Starting Days theme song), and “Heading to Over” (Free!-Dive to the Future!- OP).
