Black Panther War for Wakanda expansion releases next month

By Keith MitchellJuly 29, 2021

Soon you will become the King of Wakanda

Marvel’s Avengers next expansion, Black Panther War for Wakanda is set for an August 2021 release date. Announced earlier today by Square Enix, Black Panther War for Wakanda will be released on August 17, 2021, as a free update to everyone who owns Marvel’s Avengers for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Stadia, and PC, on August 17th, 2021.

This new expansion will add Black Panther as a new superhero, as well as two new villains and a new location called the Birnin Zana Outpost, new solo or multiplayer Drop Zone and Threat Sector missions, and more, adding the most content to Marvel’s Avengers since the game’s launch.

What is included in Black Panther War for Wakanda?

The War for Wakanda expansion adds to a game already packed with content, including eight other playable heroes, more than 25 hours of single-player campaign content (from the core release through the Expansion), and endless multiplayer action for up to four players. In addition, new modes and events are being introduced regularly, and dozens of outfits inspired by Marvel comics and movies are available to customize players’ favorite Super Heroes.

The story of the free War for Wakanda expansion revolves around King T’Challa, the Black Panther, devoted protector, and current ruler of Wakanda. Blindsided by a betrayal and the resulting tragedy, T’Challa finds it difficult to entrust his duty to anyone else, even his sister Shuri, while also confronting those who wish to do Wakanda harm. When arch-villain Klaw’s forces threaten Wakanda’s safety, T’Challa must take the fight right to them to defend everything and everyone he holds dear.

Players will experience the game’s story and additional missions in the ongoing Avengers Initiative in the lush jungles of Wakanda, an entirely new environment and sole location of the world’s Vibranium. They’ll also get to explore the Royal Palace that overlooks Birnin Zana, known as “The Golden City,” in a new Outpost that contains Shuri’s laboratory, Zawavari’s chambers, and the Wakandan War Room.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been waiting to try out this new expansion. I wasn’t really excited for the prior expansions, but outside of Spiderman being added to the game (whenever that is), I can’t wait to become the King of Wakanda. This is definitely a reason to get back in Marvel’s Avengers if you stopped playing it some time ago.

Don’t forget about Marvel’s Avengers All-Access event

If you don’t already own a copy of Marvel’s Avengers, you can still check it out starting from today until August 1st, thanks to the Marvel’s Avengers All-Access event. Anyone who takes part during this event will be able to play all of the available content for the game, and should they decide to purchase the game afterward, all progress and content will carry over to the full game. This is available for the PS4, PS5, Stadia, and PC. Currently, the Xbox platforms aren’t able to take part in this event, however, something else is being planned for those at a later date.

Marvel’s Avengers Black Panther War for Wakanda releases on August 17th, 2021 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Stadia, and PC.
