Overwatch 2 On Switch Will Feature “Some Compromises”

It’s VERY fair to say that the original Overwatch title was one that shocked the world and gamers with how fun and deep it was in terms of both gameplay and lore. It’s even fair to say that it’s one of the most successful games of the last decade by far, and so when Overwatch 2 was announced years back, fans were here for it. Especially when they found out it would be on the Nintendo switch!

But given how the game operates, many fans were wondering just how well the sequel would “hold up” on Switch compared to things like the Xboxs and PS5’s of the world. The answer comes from technical director John Lafleur. Who was on a Reddit AMA and said the following:

“As hardware has advanced since the launch of Overwatch, we are extending the OW2 engine with more high-end features. However, we’re also working hard to make sure all of our platforms get the best experience, even in PvE. Switch is a little more challenging than some, and we’ll have to make some compromises there. For that reason, some of the higher end visual enhancements might not be visible, there. We’ll focus on making sure all of the gameplay-related features get in, first, and then accentuate with additional features as much as possible.”

No word on when the release of Overwatch 2 has come as of yet.
