“Next Episode” Of Metroid Already Being Planned?

For many years now, fans have been wanting to play a Metroid game on the Nintendo Switch, and they’re going to get their chance this October with the arrival of Metroid Dread. This will be the first 2D game in the franchise in 19 years and early analysis has gamers REALLY excited.

Add to that, we know that Metroid Prime 4 is in the works via Retro Studios. But what about after that? In an interview, Yoshio Sakamoto teased that the future for the franchise is likely very bright:

“The Metroid story until this point has dealt with Samus’ strange fate that’s been intertwined around this being called the Metroid. And until now that’s been the focus of the series. But what this game represents is a bit of a pause, or kind of a new start to something else. Nobody wants the Metroid series to end, and we know that. We ourselves don’t want that either: we want people to know that there is some kind of new episode that is waiting in the works. And we want you to look forward with what we do with that next, but there are no specifics now.”

It’s exciting to hear that future plans are already in the works and Switch fans will love it no doubt as well.
