Guilty Gear Strive Early Access Livestream Recap

By Keith MitchellJune 6, 2021
Guilty Gear Strive - Strike A Pose

The Guilty Gear Strive finally gets released next week, and ahead of the release, Arc System Works has provided new information on the game. During the Guilty Gear  Strive Early Access Showcase, the company announced its plans for the game and released the opening movie and launch trailer for Guilty Gear Strive.

First, let’s check out the new trailer and opening, which you can see below.

Guilty Gear Launch Trailer

As you can imagine, being the launch trailer, we’re treated to the nice portion of the story – which could be considered spoilers. So if that bothers you, you may want to pass on watching it. This trailer also introduces a new individual called “Happy Chaos.” A person who can be “anything you like or nothing at all.” He definitely has an interesting design and I’m looking forward to finding out about him during the story progression.

Now, let’s talk about the roadmap for Guilty Gear Strive. A season pass has been announced, including 5 playable characters, 2 stages, GGST additional color pack, and another story. We’ve mentioned this in a prior story. However, now we know when we’ll see the new characters. The first one will arrive in July 2021, the second character during August 2021, with the remaining three characters, and the 2 new stages will be released after Fall 2021.

In addition to the season pass, the PS4, PS5, and PC (Steam) will also receive a free update that includes a combo maker, digital future mode, and customization features. The combo maker allows players to share their original combos for other players to learn and sounds like a great way to show off your tech. The digital figure mode lets players create their own digital diorama using in-game character models. While the customization features will allow for various customization options for match rooms – this wasn’t expanded on, so there’s not much info to go off of.

Guilty Gear Strive releases on June 11th, 2021, PS4, PS5, and PC (Steam). Both the PS4 and PS5 will support cross-play, so you’ll be able to play against others on both platforms. Currently, the PC does not support cross-play, but it hasn’t been completely ruled out.
