It was announced via their official website that the final Neon Genesis Evangelion film will receive a 3.0+1.01 update for its final run. This update will contain, what they are calling, minor revisions to come of the animation sequences. These updates will not affect the film’s story in any way, shape, or form.
The new 3.0+1.01 update will hit Japanese theaters beginning Saturday, June 12.
In addition to the updated film, some theaters will also hand out one of 1 million copies of 36-page pamphlet called EVA-EXTRA-EXTRA that contains cover art by Atsushi Nishigori and a manga that tells an untold story leading up to the third film.
