Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown Heads To Arcades On June 2nd

By Keith MitchellMay 27, 2021

The PlayStation 4 isn’t the only place that players will be able to check out Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown, as it was recently announced that the game would also be made available in arcades. During today’s Virtua Fighter x esports live stream, the Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown arcade cabinet was shown off, along with new information for the game.

Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown will be available to play in arcades on June 2nd, 2021. That’s one day after the PlayStation 4 release. These cabinets only feature one joystick and, unlike the original Virtua Fighter arcade machines, will feature nine buttons; eight standard buttons and a yellow button that may act as a block.

Below you can see several screenshots of the arcade cabinet.

You can also see the subtle changes to the character models thanks to this screenshot. All of the characters received an update to bring the 10 plus-year-old models into the current generation. As you can see, thanks to this screenshot, the models are more realistic, which has even made some characters look younger. Here, Akira looks to have dropped a few ages, while Eileen doesn’t look as goofy anymore.

Several images of Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown modes were also shown. This includes a training mode, rank mode, arcade, offline versus, online lobby, and tournament mode. I’d imagine these are for the PlayStation 4 version, with the arcade and possibly rank mode also being included with the arcade version.

This story is developing, and we’ll update as we find out more information on the arcade release.
