Skull & Bones reportedly delayed beyond 2022

By Poch SaldanaMay 25, 2021

According to a report by GameLuster, Skull & Bones–Ubisoft’s PVP-centric online sea-farer–has been delayed yet again. The report states development of the game had to be completely restarted which would be the second instance of this happening in the game’s tumultuous development. Extensive footage exists of Skull & Bones‘ ship-on-ship combat from E3 2018 where Ubisoft showcases what seems to be a title that’s anything but far from complete with completely voice-acted cutscenes, a fittingly stylized UI, and eye-popping visuals. But even that footage could be completely different from the final product as it’s reported that Ubisoft has decided to completely shift perspectives from third-person to first-person.

Ubisoft’s last official update on the game came in September of 2020 where the company coincidentally confirmed Skull & Bones’ initial delay. E3 is looming closer and closer and Ubisoft confirmed that they’ll be holding another Ubisoft Forward around the same time. We’ll likely not see much of Skull & Bones this June if the reports are to be believed but it would be interesting to see if the Montreal-based publisher will even acknowledge the existence of the title. Skull & Bones is being developed by Ubisoft Singapore with additional development help from Ubisoft Berlin, Chengdu, Kiev, Paris and the Philippines.

Big fan of games, writing, and writing about games! Two things Poch will always stand by--the Vita was ahead of its time and the world is a better place with a new Rhythm Heaven on the horizon.
