Outriders Patch Will Address Complaints With The Game

If you’ve been playing People Can Fly’s Outriders, you’ll know that while the game has been enjoyable, the experience hasn’t been. Thanks to several issues, including crashing servers, the game crashing if you look at it funny, and several other bugs. It’s been a rough launch. But that hasn’t deterred People Can Fly, who has been working around the clock. Now the developer has announced a major patch that’s being worked on.

You've got questions, we have answers.

This patch will address several issues, including re-enabling the cross-play for all platforms. This was disabled recently, and I wasn’t too keen on that as this locked me out from playing with friends and family alike. While there’s no release date set for the patch, People Can Fly wants to get this released as early as next week… but no promises.

As for what this patch will address, here are a few major points that this patch will cover. This is across the consoles and PC versions and addresses the stuttering issues that have plagued the PC version.

  • Once platforms have been updated to the same patch version, cross-play across platforms will become viable again
  • Overall stability improvements for the matchmaking service
  • Will Fix a multiplayer crash that could result in client players having their inventory wiped
  • Will fix the crash when completing the “A Bad Day” side quest.
  • Will fix the crash that occurs in No Man’s Land when your language is set to Spanish (Yes, we know. Video game code is a magical thing).
  • Will change the default matchmaking setting from “Open” to “Closed”.
  • Will fix bugs with players getting stuck on geometry (including when using Gravity Leap) or falling out of the world.
  • Will Fix a performance issue where GPU is not being fully utilized. This should help with stuttering and DX11/12 issues

Those a just a few of the items to be addressed in the upcoming Outriders patch. All of which will help improve the gameplay experience, get cross-play back up and running and fix those stuttering PC issues.

People Can Fly has also announced an appreciation package for those who have been playing the game and rolling with the issues. Tentatively called the Outriders Community Appreciation Package, those who’ve played the game since it launched and up to April 11th will receive a thank you in the form of in-game items. This will be a one-time thing, and your highest level character will receive the following;

  • A level appropriate Legendary Weapon
  • A level appropriate amount of Titanium
  • The emote “Frustration”

Ironically, the emote isn’t obtainable in the game but will be provided so everyone can express their frustrations with whatever they encounter on Enoch. Lastly, People Can Fly has stated these plans could change, and there is no ETA on when this appreciation package will be delivered.

All in all, I want to thank People Can Fly for sticking with the game. I know it hasn’t been easy, and this launch has been, to me, one of the worst I’ve experienced. The devs have stayed on top of the issues and being 100% transparent. I appreciate that, and it goes a long way in my book. I look forward to seeing the state of the game once this patch is released. Hopefully, this will enable People Can Fly to work on some more endgame content, outside of the expeditions.

Outriders is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Stadia.
