Mortal Kombat Streamed Nearly 4 Million Times In Opening Weekend On HBO Max

When Warner Bros announced that they would be doing same-day launches of movies both in theaters and on their new platform HBO Max, many were curious how well it would work out. It started out great with Wonder Woman 1984, and then Zack Snyder’s Justice League did well (especially on non-HBO Max platforms overseas) and then Godzilla Vs Kong did amazing with 3.6 million views on HBO over its opening weekend. But it appears that the movie with the true “Flawless Victory” is that of Mortal Kombat.

Because according to Mortal Kombat star Lewis Tan as well as other industry sites, the movie was streamed in 3.8 million households in its opening weekend and was also successful in being the No.1 movie at the box office.

Now, it should be noted that Godzilla vs Kong is doing much better at the box office in general, but, that’s not too much of a surprise as that had a much larger opening and China especially is throwing money at that movie.

However, this is still a major win for Mortal Kombat as the movie has been getting mixed reviews from both critics and moviegoers. So having these high numbers might encourage a second film to be greenlit sooner rather than later.
