J-Novel Club has announced that the majority of the company is now owned by Kadokawa Group. Kadokawa is one of the largest light novel publishers in all of Japan who also bought a majority stake in U.S.-based Yen Press back in 2016..
Speaking of 2016, that was the year that J-Novel Club launched with the goal of bringing light novels to English readers. With the new majority acquisition and partnership, J-Novel Club has the opportunity to expand their library onto the Book Walker brand as that is also owned by Kadokawa. In addition, they now have access to Geex Plus which is an influence management agency that was set up to assist in and leverage expanded marketing efforts to Yen Press. This means that physical releases of J-Novel Club titles could (and probably will) be published through Yen Press in the future!
