Project Athia now officially titled Forspoken, new footage shown

By Poch SaldanaMarch 18, 2021

Square Enix just wrapped up their Square Enix Presents livestream showcasing updates to existing and brand new reveals. One of the most intriguing details disclosed is the official announcement of Forspoken, a new IP that was previously shown as Project Athia.

Aside from the project’s new name, we now also know the protagonist is Freya Holland, a young woman able to wield magical powers, and the voice behind her is actor Ella Balinska who is perhaps best known as portraying Jane Kano in 2019’s Charlie’s Angels. A new scene plus a few gameplay snippets were also presented showcasing the impressive visual fidelity of the new action-adventure title.

Square Enix had the Forsaken trademark filed last January prompting fans to speculate as to what it referred to. Many guessed the new trademark would be the newest expansion to the company’s wildly successful MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV, but it’s clear now that that is not the case at all.

Forspoken is being developed and published by Square Enix. The title will be released worldwide in 2022 for PC and PS5.

Big fan of games, writing, and writing about games! Two things Poch will always stand by--the Vita was ahead of its time and the world is a better place with a new Rhythm Heaven on the horizon.
