Next Square Enix Presents Scheduled for Summer

By Andrew AgressMarch 19, 2021

Hot off the heels of the first Square Enix Presents, a digital showcase similar to Nintendo Direct, Square Enix has announced the next one will arrive this summer. Exact dates have yet to be given, and the company has also yet to mention which of its upcoming games this one will focus on.

At yesterday’s showcase, Square Enix revealed Life is Strange: True Colors. The fourth entry in the Life is Strange series, the title will focus on a new character with empathic abilities. The release date is slated for September 21st of this year.

As for the next Square Enix Presents, there are several games that could be on display. I’d say there’s a great chance that Final Fantasy will get talked about. The question is, which one? Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, a new DLC episode for the remake of the classic game. So we could see more Final Fantasy VII Remake news, however game director Tetsuya Nomura confirmed that the remake series currently has no plans for anymore DLC before Part 2 arrives.

Since Part 2 of the remake is likely a few years away, there’s perhaps a better chance we’ll hear more about Final Fantasy XVI, which Square Enix revealed last year but hasn’t provided many updates on. Other Square Enix game series include Kingdom Hearts, Nier, and Dragon Quest, so we could potentially hear about any of those as well, or any new IPs in the works.

A big fan of Final Fantasy VII, Uncharted, and Metal Gear Solid, Andrew loves great stories and any and all things horror flavored. He also works in the world of interactive theater, its own kind of gaming. Andrew gets his powers from listening to indie folk music and drinking aloe water.
