Anime Expo Returns to Virtual This Year

By Josh PiedraMarch 3, 2021

We reported earlier that an information packet sent out by the Los Angeles Convention and Tourism Development Board of Commissioners stated that Anime Expo was moving to a live event.

Today, Anime Expo has announced and confirmed that the physical event is, indeed, canceled and that the virtual event, Anime Expo Lite would be returning this year due to the pandemic.

Anime Expo Lite is slated for the July 4 weekend which aligns with the original physical event planned from July 2-5 from the LA Convention Center. As with most conventions, badge holders for the 2021 event will get priority to register for the 2022 event, should the pandemic actually subside by July of next year.

As of now, there has not been any announcements in regards to guests, panels, entertainment, or content for the event.
