NiER Replicant Receives New Trailer, Reveals Voice Actors

By Henry BuehlerFebruary 26, 2021

Square Enix has recently unveiled the trailer for NiER Replicant ver.122474487139… as well as the voice cast for the game.

The latest trailer is actually the opening of the game and is a beautiful enhancement over the original’s visuals. The original Nier served as a “joke ending” to the first entry of the Drakengard series, which shares the same director-Yoko Taro.

Those confused only need to know that NiER Replicant and all other Yoko Taro-directed games are depressing and beautiful dark fantasy games. NiER Replicant and its sequel, NiER Automata, are post-apocalyptic and set in our world in the distant future. While the original entry was roughly received, it’s grown a cult following that has only expanded since the release of Automata. Developer Toylogic has worked extensively on improving the combat, which many players felt was stiff in the original. The visuals also look gorgeous and modernized.

The English voice cast has also been revealed:

  • Nier (adult): Ray Chase
  • Nier (child): Zach Aguilar
  • Grimoire Weiss: Liam O’Brien
  • Kaine: Laura Bailey
  • Emil: Julie Ann Taylor
  • Devola and Popola: Eden Riegel

Ray Chase seems to be making the rounds in Square Enix games, not only voicing Noctis in Final Fantasy XV but also the protagonist of NiER Replicant. Additionally, all of the other voice actors listed reprise their roles from the original NiER.

NiER Replicant ver. 122474487139… releases April 23rd for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
