Sonic The Hedgehog Voice Actor Roger Craig Smith Steps Down After 10 years

Roger Craig Smith Sonic the Hedgehog Voice Actor

After 10 years of being the voice of Sega’s Hedgehog with attitude, Roger Craig Smith has announced is calling it quits and is stepping down. For those 10 years, Craig has been everywhere, from voice Sonic the Hedge in a number of shows and video games.

Roger announced this departure earlier today via a Twitter post.

Welp, 10 years was an amazing run.
Onward to new zones!

Much love to the fans who've been so kind.💙

It's been an honor.

Roger Craig Smith replaced Jason Griffith as Sonic’s voice in 2010, with this first role being cast in Sonic Colors. It has to be said that it took me a while to get used to Roger’s Sonic, as he was more chill. While Jason’s Sonic was seen as the cooler and level headed character. Still, after some time, I grew to love Roger’s Sonic just as much.

Currently, there’s no word on who’ll fill Roger’s shoes, but less if there’s an upcoming Sonic-related project. But whoever comes next, they’ve got some tall shoes to fill. As for what Roger is up to next, he didn’t say. But whatever it is, it definitely will be at a slower pace – I mean, who’s as fast as Sonic (don’t you dare say, Mario!).
