Samurai Shodown runs at 120FPS on Xbox Series X|S

By Keith MitchellJanuary 15, 2021

While we already knew that SNK’s weapon-based fighter, Samurai Shodown, is getting a PS5/Xbox Series X|S upgrade, new info was released today. A new trailer was released that revealed that the Xbox Series X|S version now has a March 16, 2021 release date, will support smart delivery, and will run at 120 Frames Per Second. So if you’re one of the few who has a tv/monitor that can support it, you’ll be able to take advantage of it.

Another video was also released that featured the director of the title, Hayato Konya, who went provide attention information. According to Konya, if you currently have Samurai Shodown for the Xbox One, your data and DLC will transfer over to the Xbox Series X|S versions.

There will also be a physical version of the game that will be released in North America and Europe, including all of the characters from the first Samurai Shodown season pass; Rimururu, Basara, Kazuki, and Wan-Fu. It will also include the newly announced ChamCham from the 3rd season pass, which isn’t set to be released until March 2021.

Sadly, there wasn’t any mention on if SNK plans on fixing the netcode, which is lacking, nor was there any mention of cross-play. The netcode is why I stopped playing the game, and hopefully when Konya mentioned there will be more news coming, that he’s referring to the netcode.

Both Samurai Shodown for the Xbox Series X|S and season pass 3 will be released on March 16, 2021.
