Transmog will be heading to Destiny 2: Beyond Light

By Keith MitchellNovember 2, 2020
Destiny 2 beyond light stasis powers activate

Yes, Transmog is finally going to be available.

During last week’s Twitch Gaming stream, Bungie’s Luke Smith brought forth the news that most Destiny 2 players wanted to hear; Transmog is coming to the game. Luke was straightforward on how Transmog is going to work in Destiny 2: Beyond Light. Bungie will take inventory of every item that you’ve ever collected through your adventure with Destiny 2. Then, whenever Transmog is available, players will be able to mix and match looks from the thousands of pieces of armor. This also means that the armor that’s been sitting in our vaults, in hopes that one day this would happen, can be

You can just delete all that shit,” Luke mentions via Livestream. “We’re going to scrape your account data, and the things that are eligible for Transmog will be things that you’ve collected across your journey. It’s not going to be what you have at the moment.”

It’s something that players, including myself, have been looking forward to since Destiny 2 had launched. And while it’s been a long time coming, it was nice to finally hear Luke Smith acknowledge that Transmog is finally going to be available to us.

Why is Transmog so important?

It’s not that Transmog is important, not so much as that we as players like the way certain pieces of gear look. While also loving that epic gear, we’re rocking now with all the best stats, but they make us look very unfashionable. That’s there the ability to Transmog comes in, allowing us to take the best looking gear and apply its looks to gear that is hideous but great on the stats. For those who’ve played World of Warcraft, you’ll understand the thirst immediately.

As for when Transmog will be available, that’s up in the air. Currently, Bungie is working on getting Destiny 2: Beyond Light ready for launch, which is just two more weeks. I’m sure the team will want to enjoy some downtime before working on their next project, so that I wouldn’t expect Transmog any time soon. Just knowing that the ability is coming is more than enough for me.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light releases on November 19th, 2020, for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia. Upgraded versions for the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 will arrive on December 8th, 2020.
