Pokemon GO Grosses $1 Billion In Profits For 2020 So Far

By Todd BlackNovember 3, 2020
Pokemon Go

There’s little doubt that when Pokemon GO launched worldwide people were going to be curious about how it played and how people would want to interact with it. In no time flat it became a phenomenon that has only gotten bigger with more additions, fan feedback, and more. Yet, in 2020, with the global pandemic as it is, you’d think that Pokemon fans and casual gamers wouldn’t want to touch the title because of the restrictions. But you would be totally wrong.

Because as Sensor Tower reveals, the game has gotten $1 billion dollars in revenue in 2020, and we’re not even out of 2020 yet! And in fact, this is the first time that Pokemon Go has grossed one billion in revenue in a single year. What’s more, when added to the last four years of life, the game has now grossed over $4 billion in profit.

This is obviously a huge win for the Pokemon Company, developer Niantic, and more! If you’re curious about how certain other stats break down, here you go!

– Players worldwide have spent up 11 percent more so far this year than in all of last year
– Spent 30 percent more than in the first 10 months of 2019
– In the first 10 months of 2020, Pokemon GO has ranked as the #3 mobile game by global player spending outside of third-party Android stores, such as those in China
– Close to $4.2 billion in player spending globally to date
– $1.5 billion in revenue from the United States (36.3 percent)
– Japan is #2 with $1.3 billion in revenue (31.3 percent)
– Germany is third at $238.6 million (5.7 percent)
– Google Play: $2.2 billion (53.4 percent)
– App Store: $1.9 billion (46.6 percent)
– Pokemon GO has generated nearly 600 million unique installs worldwide to date
– The U.S. is #1 for downloads at 109 million installs (18.2 percent of the total)
– Brazil is second with 65.2 million (11 percent)
– Mexico is third with 37.3 million (6.2 percent)
– Google Play downloads: 466 million installs (78 percent)
– App Store downloads: 132 million (22 percent)
