AEW Announces Games Division and First Three Titles

By Josh PiedraNovember 10, 2020

All Elite Wrestling held a special event where it unveiled its brand-new AEW Games division. One of AEW”s Executive Vice Presidents, Tyson Smith, aka Kenny Omega, took the stage dressed up as a homage to Apple founder Steve Jobs and helped usher in AEW’s first three game titles!

The first title was a console game coming to current and next-gen consoles. The game is being created by Yukes and is being described as a game styled after long-time fan favorites WWF No Mercy and Virtual Pro Wrestling! Some Pre-Alpha footage of the game was shown off which gave us a glimpse of Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho’s models. In addition, the trailer confirmed that intergender matches will be possible as they showed current AEW Women’s World Champion, Hikaru Shida, taking on Kenny Omega!

It should be stressed that not everything is final as of yet. This is still pre-alpha footage and lots of polishing will be going into this title!

Next, AEW Senior Referee, Aubrey Edwards, took the stage and continued the theme of paying homage to Steve Jobs. She announced a mobile game is in development as well! It’s called AEW Elite General Manager and it is exactly as it sounds. You take the stars of AEW and book the cards and watch them play out. It is, essentially, taking the GM mode from the WWE video games and making it its own mobile game for iOS and Android. A release date hasn’t been announced for this title as of yet.

Aubrey herself is overseeing this project. For those who do not know, before becoming a professional wrestling referee, Aubrey Edwards spent time in the video game industry as a developer!

Up next was Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. to show off a bit of merchandise! It is the official AEW Games T-shirt which you can pick up right now at http://www.shopaew.com

And lastly, we were joined by AEW Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes where he unveiled another mobile game! This one didn’t have many details to it; however, it is called AEW Casino: Double or Nothing and it looks to be an assortment of casino games from Texas Hold’em Poker, Blackjack, Roulette, Slots, and more the feature your favorite AEW stars! While a specific release date hasn’t been announced, it was stated that it was coming this winter for mobile devices!

To keep up-to-date for everything AEW Games, you can follow them on Twitter and YouTube! You can also head on over to their official site at http://www.aewgames.com
