PS5 DualSense Controller Plays Project xCloud via Android

By Andrew Alaniz-LurasOctober 23, 2020

Thanks to YouTuber Austin Evans, we have an in-depth look at the PlayStation 5’s “DualSense” Controller! Of course, listed on the box of the controller itself, shows off confirmation on the DualSense’s Haptic Feedback, Adaptive Triggers, a Built-In Microphone, and “Signature Comfort”. To a brief surprise, the box also lists that the controller is only compatible with the PlayStation 5. When we are told that it will only work for the PS5, that definitely means we have to plug it into all sorts of things to figure out whether that theory is true.  Of course, this could change in the future thanks to firmware updates. Sony did this with the DualShock 4 controllers, enabling them to work on the PS3.

When Evans plugs it into the Xbox Series X it doesn’t quite work, though it does show that it is charging. When plugged into a PlayStation 4, it seems like the console recognizes the microphone of the controller, yet the other inputs would not work. When plugged into a Surface Laptop Go the controller seemed to work and to shock Evans, the controller worked wirelessly when connected to his Google Pixel 5, allowing him to play Forza Horizon 4 through Microsoft’s Project xCloud gaming service.

Certainly a bigger upgrade, literally, from the PS4’s DualShock controller and a shock to see it playing an Xbox game on an Android phone. The PS5 and its controller are almost in our hands and trust me, I can’t wait to see what this console and controller will do on November 12th.
