Cyberpunk 2077 hit with another delay

Three More Weeks

CD Projekt Red’s upcoming cyberpunk title, Cyberpunk 2077, has just been delayed, again.

Instead of being released this November 2020, the game is being pushed back by 21 days and now will be released on December 10th, 2020. This announcement comes from CD Projekt Red’s Adam Badowski and Marcin Iwinski, who dropped the news via Twitter.

As cited, this delay is due to testing out 9 different versions of the game, which includes current and next-generation platforms; PS4, Xbox One, PC, Stadia, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series, and PS5. With so many platforms that will need to be checked and then double-checked, 21 days may not be enough, but the pair seems confident otherwise.

This news comes after the reports by Bloomberg that CDR was in crunch mode, with six-day workweeks. This report caused massive complaints between those looking forward to the game and others sympathetic to those working under the crunch conditions. CD Projekt Red announcing that Cyberpunk 2077 had gone gold on October 5th, 2020. Something to which the pair was keen on pointing out.

“Some of you might also be wondering what these words mean in light of us saying we achieved gold master some time ago,” Passing certification, or ‘going gold,’ means the game is ready, can be completed, and has all content in it. But it doesn’t mean we stop working on it and raising the quality bar.”

Regardless, the result is the same. If you had planned on taking any vacation to sit back and enjoy Cyberpunk 2077, you might want to get that changed or canceled. Meanwhile, the Day 0 patch that will be released is likely going to be massive.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll repeat it, despite the harassment I know I’ll get for saying it. I would rather CDR delay the game until 2021, giving the developers time to polish the hell out of the game without any added pressure. It’s been delayed this long; we can wait longer.
