During Capcom’s 2020 Tokyo Game Show Special Program Livestream, it was mentioned that they are looking into getting Resident Evil Village running on current generation consoles.
Resident Evil Village’s producer Tsuyoshi Kanda exclaimed that “While Resident Evil Village is being developed specifically for next-generation consoles and PC, we’re looking into delivering the experience on Xbox One and PS4 as well. We’re looking into it, but we can’t make any promises. However, we will do our best in creating a top-tier survival horror experience on current generation consoles.”
While Capcom announced that Resident Evil Village was being developed for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, there was no mention of a PS4 or Xbox One version. Which, as you can imagine, frustrated scores of Resident Evil fans who were looking forward to the next chapter, but on the current generation consoles. This may have played a part in Capcom’s plans to get the game running on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Again, there are no promises that we’ll actually see a playable version on the PS4 or Xbox One, but at least Capcom is looking into it.
Resident Evil Village is slated for an unannounced 2021 release date for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
