30XX’s New Mega Mode will make the game less punishing

Nina's back in Batterystaple Games 30xx

30XX, the upcoming sequel to the spiritual successor to Mega Man X, 20XX keeps getting better all the time. Better graphics, better gameplay, a bigger team, and now Batterystaple Games has announced that the game will include a causal way to play the game – Mega Mode!

What’s Mega Mode, you may be asking? For those who aren’t fans of the procedural level generation or the perma-death mechanics, Mega Mode is for you. With Mega Mode, the perma-death mechanic is disabled and the levels will remain the same until you’ve completed them – no matter how many times you fail in battle.

If this sounds familiar, this is the very same thing that some have asked to be included in 20XX. And while it never happened, it’s nice to see that Batterystaple Games has added it to the upcoming sequel.

30XX is still on schedule to be released for PC and consoles, including the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 in 2021. While you’re here, be sure to check out our interview with Batterystaple Games’ Chris King that we conducted during PAX East 2020.

Are you looking forward to 30XX? If so, let us know what interests you the most in the comments.
