Cheesing the Growth quest requirements for the Ruinous Effigy in Destiny 2

By Keith MitchellJuly 8, 2020

With the arrival of Season of Arrivals in Destiny 2, a new exotic weapon called the Ruinous Effigy has been introduced.

Of course, with most exotics, there’s a quest that involves several steps to get said weapon. Part of this questline, Growth, requires you to get play several games in the PVP modes Gambit, Gambit Prime or Reckoning, racking up Void kills, and precision multi-kills.

The last bit has likely caused a bit of pain, as getting precision multi-kills in these modes requires you to best the other team members on your squad. Thus making that part of the quest a pain.

However, I recently noticed that you DON’T have to get the precision multi-kills in Gambit, Gambit Prime, or Reckoning. Instead, you can do this part in any lost sector or even Escalation Protocol and get it down in a fraction of the time. Though I’d stick to the lost sectors, that way you aren’t competing for headshots with other players. I find that the Kingship Dock is perhaps the easier lost sector to do this in.

After realizing this, it took me less than 30 minutes to get the kills I needed to finish off the quest and claim my new exotic. Hopefully, this spares you some pain as you grind out this quest.

As for the Ruinous Effigy Exotic Trace Rifle, this weapon is an interesting one, due to the perks that this weapon is packing; Transmutation and Evolution. Scoring kill with the Ruinous Effigy will turn its victims into void transmutation spheres, that you’ll then be able to pick up and use as weapons and also use as an AOE-effect.

It’s an odd weapon but once you get the hang of it, it’s a fun weapon to use.

Now you’ll be able to finish out more exotic, ahead of the expansion for Destiny 2, Beyond Light, when it launches in September 2020.
