Netflix shares a quick peek of its upcoming ‘Transformers: War for Cybertron’ series

By Keith MitchellFebruary 23, 2020
Netflix Transformers War for Cybertron

Last year, we got word that Netflix was working with Hasbro to create a new Transformers series called, ‘Transformers: War for Cybertron’. Which will feature a new origin story for both the Autobots and Decepticons. While we still don’t have a date for when this new series will debut, Netflix released a short snippet of the show earlier today.

This also happens to be the first time the public has seen anything from this series. The verdict? Holy Shit, this looks good. We’re looking at a battle that’s being waged on Cybertron, the same models from the Transformers that many of us have grown up with as well. Honestly, this looks very similar to the Transformers: War for Cybertron and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron titles that were sadly delisted a while back.  Seriously, can we please get Activision to bring those back?

Several familiar faces make an appearance, including Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Bumble Bee, Wheeljack, Elita-1, Jetfire (Who’s still a Decepticon here), Star Scream, Skywarp, Shockwave, Soundwave, Reflector, and countless others. The amount of Transformers has me geeking out. In an interesting turn of events, it would seem from this tease that Megatron and the Decepticons are merely reacting to the Autobots transgressions? This can’t be right. Then again, you can never trust Megatron.

Sadly, it is odd not hearing Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime, and I had thought he was attached to this. There’s also something to be desired with the animation, but this is still something I’m looking forward to.

Now, if we only had a date, I’d be even happy. By the way, Netflix, if you need a true and original G1 Transformers fan to check this out or if you’re doing an early look, I may know some people.

The eight-year-old child in me is loving this, and so is the older me.

This may not be the life we imagined, but it’s a life worth fighting for. #TransformersWFC pic.twitter.com/dlAsm2UXbD
