Ah, the Golden Globes. The awards show no one ever knows if they should care about or not. Awards season has begun and that means buzz about who got snubbed, what makes a good movie, and lots of snickering about how Cats failed spectacularly enough not get any real nominations.
Ricky Gervais was, as expected, kind of an asshole and Ton Hanks was moving during his acceptance speech for Lifetime Achievement. There was some expected wins, like Parasite for best foreign film, Joaquin Phoenix for Joker, Tarantino for best screenplay, and Chernobyl for best limited series. There were also some surprises, like Missing Link winning for best animated film (and against Pixar no less), Awkwafina winning best actress in comedy or musical (the first Asian woman to do so!), and Patricia Arquette beating out Meryl Streep.
