Is Capcom working on an unannounced Resident Evil title?

Could this be Resident Evil 8?

Last night while I was waiting for my daughter to get off of work (the life of a parent), I received an email from Capcom’s Resident Evil Ambassador program. In this email, Tsuyoshi Otani, the producer in charge of the program congratulated Sekiro for winning the Best Action/Adventure game of the year during the Game Awards Show. Something of which I sure was bittersweet for him to acknowledge.  He continues with he hopes to win the award next year with Resident Evil 3.

However, in this email, he goes on to mention a few other things regarding the revamped program. Including priority access to Capcom game booths during events and limited offers to gain access to playtest sessions of a yet unannounced title.

As for this unannounced game, we haven’t a clue to what it could be. It couldn’t be Resident Evil 3, as not only was it announced but we have a release date. So what could it be? The same goes for Resident Evil Resistance.

Perhaps this unannounced title is Resident Evil 8, which multiple outlets have stated has been in development for some time. Besides, Resident Evil 3 has been said to be the final current generation title in the series, while Resident Evil 8 be released on the next-generation of consoles (and PC). Which would make sense, as the next-gen console would a great way to showcase the latest game? I don’t know about you, but seeing a RE title built specifically for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X would be amazing.

For now, Capcom isn’t saying so we’ll have to wait for clarification to which we likely won’t know until at E3 2020 at the earliest. If you’re interested in signing up for the Resident Evil Ambassador program, you can so here. Something of which we recommend you do if you’re a fan of the series.

Resident Evil Ambassador Program

You can read the entirety of the email below.

Hello, Resident Evil Ambassadors!
It’s Tsuyoshi Otani, the producer in charge of the Resident Evil Ambassador Program.

Although Resident Evil 2 didn’t win an award at last week’s The Game Awards 2019, I’m very happy that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice won both the Best Action/Adventure Game and the Game of the Year awards!
We hope to win an award with Resident Evil 3 next year!

We are almost ready to roll out a new program for Ambassadors. Please see the details below.

We are introducing a new ranking system to the Ambassador Program.
There are four ranks: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. We also renewed the Ambassador Cards with four different types. Pick the card that suits your style!

Also, as limited offers to Ambassadors, we have invitations to a play test session of our unannounced title*, and priority seats at our game show booth**.

Higher-ranked Ambassadors have a greater chance to be selected for these offers, so aim for Platinum rank for the best chance to win! So, how can you improve your rank? Well, that’s easy! Ranks can be gained by participating in Ambassador activities!

* You need to apply for the play test to be eligible for selection.
** Game show locations / dates are not confirmed.
