The Director Of God Of War REALLY Wants Golden Sun Back

By Todd BlackDecember 31, 2019
Golden Sun

In the Nintendo Switch era, Nintendo has done a great job so far of bringing forth just about every major 1st party title to the system in some way shape or form. It’s already got representatives from Mario (including 2D and 3D versions), Mario Kart, Legend of Zelda, Pokemon, Super Smash Bros, Kirby, Yoshi, Xenoblade Chronicles, Mario Party, Fire Emblem, next year is bringing us Animal Crossing, Metroid Prime 4 is in the works, and more are sure to come. The question many fans have though is whether some of their more dormant franchises will get a rebirth. With many fans asking for the return of Golden Sun.

Golden Sun made its debut on the Game Boy Advance in 2001, and instantly made a hit with those that played it. Including getting rave reviews from critics. There have been two sequels to the game via The Lost Age on GBA and then Dark Dawn on the Nintendo 3DS. But low sales have kept the series from continuing.

However, on Twitter, a tweet was put out to fans to ask what franchise from Nintendo’s past would they like to bring back to the Switch…and what would they be willing to sacrifice (in terms of another franchise) for it? Fans have weighed in, but one of the most surprising ones came from Cory Barlog. Who you might know as the director of the God of War games. Yeah, he apparently wants Golden sun back, like REALLY badly…check out his tweet:

Dear Nintendo,

My body is ready for a modern GOLDEN SUN game built on the still smouldering ashes of literally EVERY ONE of these franchises! Franchises I love very much, just not as much as GOLDEN SUN.

In conclusion…you have my sword, and my bow, and my axe.

hugsies,
Cory♥️ https://t.co/8W8mYA5SHm

So yeah, he wants it back, and on the Nintendo Switch, it might just get the love that it never got before. Could it happen? Sure, the franchise has been represented a lot in Super Smash Bros, including having main character Isaac as an Assist Trophy. But could it be a game on the Switch? Only time will tell.
