Phantasy Star Online 2 Closed Beta Sign-Ups Are Now Open

I still can’t believe Phantasy Star Online 2 is finally headed West

Oh my, oh my my my, is this happening? I mean the Phantasy Star Online 2 Closed beta sign-ups for the Xbox One. Yep, it’s happening alright and this is a moment that I’ve been waiting ever since 2012. As an avid fan of the first game and someone who played on his trusty Dreamcast every night, I never thought this would happen. Especially since Sega has teased the West regarding the game even making it over here for years. But never mind that, you’re here for the sign-up info.

Right, the sign-ups. Ok, Microsoft and Sega are helping you get your hands on the closed beta, right now. All you have to do is fire up your Xbox One, head over to the Xbox Insider app (or download it) and access the Insider Content. There you’ll find an option to sign-up for the closed beta, which will only available for those in North America and Canada.

We don’t know when the closed beta will start, that info will come later. Just don’t expect it to be this year.

However, should you be selected (I have my fingers crossed), you’ll be able to check out the game before it officially goes live. According to the sign-up page, your progress will transfer over to the full version of the game.  Also, anyone who partakes in the beta will receive some currently unknown in-game rewards. Hey, I like in-game rewards, so that works.

Ironically enough, I participated in the first Phantasy Star Online 2 closed beta that took place in 2012. We’ve come full circle, haven’t we? Of course, Phantasy Star Online 2 won’t be an Xbox One-only title. It will still make its way to the PC, as well as other platforms in North America in due time.

I still can’t believe this is happening. I’ve waited for so long, cursed Sega a few thousand times and eventually gave up. But the dream is not only alive, but it’s coming true. Thank you Microsoft, and thank you Sega.

Now, when can I get my grubby hands on the game?
