New ‘Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind’ Trailer Brings back ‘Final Fantasy’ Favorites

By Andrew AgressDecember 14, 2019

It looks like we won’t have to wait until the remake of Final Fantasy 7 comes out in order to interact with some of our favorite characters from the game. Nor does it look like we’ll have to wait several years for another update to the Kingdom Hearts series. During this week’s Playstation State of Play livestream, Square Enix showed off a trailer for the first major DLC expansion for Kingdom Hearts 3.

Naturally, the upcoming DLC has the idiosyncratic title of Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind. When Kingdom Hearts 3 arrived earlier this year, it notably lacked characters from the Final Fantasy series, prioritizing those from Disney properties instead. Where did the Final Fantasy characters go? Evidently Square Enix decided to save them for this expansion. Take a look:

In addition to Final Fantasy characters such as Aerith, Yuffie, and Leon, the trailer also highlights Yozora. Those who have played Kingdom Hearts 3 will remember him as the main character from the game-inside-a-game featured in the Toy Story world. He also appears in the secret movie for those who collected all or almost all of the Lucky Emblems in the game. For those of you who haven’t yet played Kingdom Hearts 3, we highly recommend it.

Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind will arrive on PS4 and Xbox One on January 23, 2020.

A big fan of Final Fantasy VII, Uncharted, and Metal Gear Solid, Andrew loves great stories and any and all things horror flavored. He also works in the world of interactive theater, its own kind of gaming. Andrew gets his powers from listening to indie folk music and drinking aloe water.
