Wasteland 3 Looks Incredible, Coming May 19

By Diego PerezNovember 14, 2019
Wasteland 3

Microsoft’s acquisition of inXile looks like it’s finally paying off. Wasteland 3 is coming May 19, and the newest trailer shown at X019 earlier today showcases some amazing-looking gameplay. Check it out below.

The Wasteland series is the reason why Fallout exists. It pioneered post-apocalyptic role-playing. The sequel, Wasteland 2, launched over 20 years after the original thanks to Kickstarter, and now the third game has the backing of Microsoft since they acquired the studio last year. Despite the studio now being owned by Microsoft, Wasteland 3 will still see a release on PlayStation 4 because it was already in development for Sony’s console, much like the situation with Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds.

The game will feature co-op, a first for the series. More recent isometric RPGs like Divinity Original Sin are a blast to play with friends, and we expect Wasteland 3 will be no different. You don’t have to have played the first two games to jump into the third entry because it’s entirely standalone, which is always nice, especially when you’re playing with friends who might not be caught up.

You’ll be able to explore the snowy wastes of post-apocalyptic Colorado when Wasteland 3 launches on May 19, 2020 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. If you missed out on X019 live, then be sure to check out Rare’s new IP called Everwild and Obsidian’s new survival game, Grounded. Don’t forget to check out the absurd number of games hitting Xbox Game Pass, either.

When he's not playing video games, Diego's talking about video games, and he does both a lot.
